A verified institutional history has not been supplied. This page therefore does not invent a founding year, a gazette notification, a lineage of directors, or a list of excavations “conducted by IIACH”.
What can be stated is the intellectual setting. Indian archaeology has developed through survey traditions, excavation programmes, epigraphic and numismatic scholarship, art-historical study, scientific dating and, more recently, digital documentation and community archaeology. Cultural heritage management has grown alongside monument conservation, museum professionalisation and debates on intangible heritage.
When authentic institutional dates exist, they will replace this note. Until then, readers should treat IIACH pages as a proposed platform and a teaching resource on the disciplines themselves.
